9/17/19

Students have 2 assessments coming up here soon. Unit 1: Civics will be on 9/20/19 and Unit 1: Interactions with Water will be on 9/23/19. I have added both of these dates to the calendar. I highly recommend students studying their interactive notebooks, their study guides, and getting onto Study Island to practice the lessons and quizzes I have assigned. As of right now, Study Island has activities for all areas that we are covering in class thus far. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

9/4/19 If you are willing to donate headphones, or send a set of headphones in for your child, we would greatly appreciate. We use laptops often throughout the day and many websites include sound. These headphones will be placed in a zip-lock bag and kept inside your child's cubby at school. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

9/1/19 I hope you all had a wonderful, safe, and enjoyable holiday weekend. Now it is time to get back into the swing of things....school!

It is again a 4 day week and we are still working on establishing routines, procedures, and expectations. The class did a tremendous job last week and I am so looking forward to another amazing week with them. They are such a great bunch of kids. Below I have outlined the plans for the week.

Math: introduce math centers, place value to 4 digits (thousands place), rounding numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand, and comparing 2 numbers.

Social Studies: citizenship: characteristics of a good citizen, voting, self-discipline vs. self-reliance, honesty and trustworthiness, rules and laws.

Writing: introduce writing notebook, goals for writing notebooks, introduce writing process (planning, drafting, revising, editing, publishing, and celebrating)

Reading: establish reading centers, picking out a good fit book, practice independent reading

Science: interactions with water: solids and liquid mix with water in different ways, many solids dissolve more easily in hot water than in cold water

Please don't forget to sign and return the paperwork that went home on Meet and Greet night and the first day of school. I am still missing any student's paperwork. If you have not already done so, please send in the $6.00 for the agenda. If I don't receive them by Friday, I will start emailing home as a reminder.

Homework will start this week. Please check your child's agenda daily for their homework assignments. Under files and documents, I have posted the guidelines and expectations of homework. Please review it.

8/24/19 Welcome back to school. I am super excited for this school year. I know it will be the best one yet.

Please make sure that you check the school messenger page weekly as I will update it with assessments and upcoming events.

The focus of the first week of school will be to establish routines, procedures, and expectations. Weekly, I will add the focus for each subject and what your child is learning in school. This way you are always informed and up-to-date with what is going on inside the classroom. Please check the calendar tab for holidays, upcoming tests and projects, and events.

Please don't forget to sign and return all the forms that were sent home on Meet & Greet and the first day of school as well as the $6.00 for your child's agenda. You will find the remind app link on my main page for you to sign up. I will be sending out reminders for upcoming events, field trips, assessments, etc. through remind. Please sign up so that you are not missing important information. Communication will take place through email, remind, and the school messenger page. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don't ever hesitate to contact me. I am always here to help and support you and your child.
